Washington - U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced today that the state of Illinois has been awarded a $13,900,995 Emergency Relief program grant through the Federal Highway Administration of the U.S. Department of Transportation. The funds will be used in five congressional districts – including the 12th – for highway repairs that resulted from heavy rains and flooding in June.
“We have had a considerable amount of extreme weather this year, and this funding will help maintain our transportation infrastructure,” said Costello, a senior member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. “Economic development relies on our ability to move people and material efficiently, and we need to make necessary investments to ensure that our transportation system is reliable for years to come.”
