WASHINGTON - U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced today that the final version of the Interior Appropriations bill for Fiscal Year 2010 contains $352,000 he secured for the Village of Buckner for a new 100,000 gallon elevated water storage tank. The current tank is in disrepair and does not produce adequate water pressure. The new tank will greatly enhance local water service and community safety. The bill will next be considered by the Senate and then sent to President Obama for signature.
“This funding will help Buckner improve their water service,” said Costello. “Water infrastructure improvements are one of our most pervasive needs in Illinois and across the nation, and our small communities often don’t have the resources to address these problems. I will continue to work with officials at the federal, state and local levels to upgrade our infrastructure.”
