Washington - U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced today that John A. Logan College Campus Safety has received $100,000 in funding from the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance. This award, through the Congressionally Selected Awards Program, will support law enforcement efforts to track pseudoephedrine sales in order to reduce the number of people obtaining this drug for the manufacture of methamphetamine. John A. Logan College is assisting the Williamson County Sheriff’s Department in several initiatives to curb the spread of meth.
“The partnership of educational and law enforcement institutions in the fight to restrict the spread of meth in our region will benefit from this funding,” said Costello, a former law enforcement official. “Meth abuse is a scourge on our communities and I will continue to support efforts in the fight to eliminate it from Southern Illinois.”
